About Us
Formed in January 2025, Texas Politiehond is a collection of like-minded individuals (primarily located in Texas) who are interested in training Dutch Police Dogs in the “Dutch Way.” The group was formed by Bob Andrews, Michael Laney, and Gert van Ee, all police dog trainers and handlers who are very experienced in the “KNPV way.” Please see Our Founders in the navigation bar above to learn more about Bob, Mike, and Gert.
The group is unique in its purpose and mission, and it is not like other dog “clubs” or “organizations.” Specifically:
What We Don’t Do:
We don’t administer police dog exams
We don’t issue dog/handler performance certificates
We don’t certify “helpers,” “suit men,” or “decoys”
We don’t certify judges
We don’t collect dues
We don’t have a Board of Directors
We don’t get “bogged down” in organizational bureaucracy
We don’t “sell” or “broker” dogs (but we can refer to organizations / individuals that do)
We don’t certify police dogs or protection dogs, decoys, or judges in the USA (but we can refer to organizations that do)
We don’t operate commercially
What We Do:
We have fun training police dogs in the “Dutch (KNPV) Way”
We help each other improve the performance of our dogs
We help each other improve as handlers / trainers
We provide “suit work” or “decoy work” for each other’s dogs
We provide technical assistance regarding the current KNPV examination rules
We provide assistance for those individuals who wish to formally join the KNPV (in Holland)
We help individuals who wish to prepare themselves and their dog to take a KNPV exam in Holland
We assist individuals (especially law enforcement officers) who already have a KNPV-certified dog, to better understand their dog and the dog’s training foundation.
We assist with problem solving
We assist individuals who already have a KNPV-certified dog (especially law enforcement officers) with practical (street) skills and exercises post-KNPV certification.
If we sound like a group of individuals you would like to associate with, please reach out to us through our Contact Us page.
